FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How often are the quizzes held?
There are typically three quizzes a year, held during the traditional school
year: one in the Fall (Oct/Nov), one in Winter (Jan/Feb), and one in
Spring (Apr/May). A church may participate as their schedule allows.
How much time will I have to study?
The passage is typically announced six weeks prior to the quiz.
What are the questions like?
Regular quiz questions are very straightforward, yet precise.
Questions are not intended to trick anyone, but often require exact
wording. See the sample questions in the Quiz Help section for a better idea. Given
enough time, most quizzers could probably answer every question.
Speed is what eventually distinguishes one team from another.
What do the questions cover?
The questions cover strictly the text of the passage, from the
traditional King James Version.
Questions are not interpretative or application oriented. See the sample
questions in the Quiz Help section for a better idea.
Why do we not use study materials or other versions?
We encourage the use of such materials to help understand the passage during the weeks of
preparation; but the subject
matter would become too large to make for reasonable competition.
Will I know the reference for the question?
Yes. Before each question, the reference will be read. Questions
will be in random order.
What age teens may participate?
The league is intended for those in Junior & Senior High, based on how each
participating church defines its youth ministry.
May churches have more than one team?
Yes. In fact, we recommend
that you create a new team for every block of 6 or 7 serious and
competitive quizzers. Once a tournament begins, however, win or
lose, a team is a team - Johnny can't switch to his church's other team when his team
loses.
May individuals or families participate without a church?
No. We believe the
local church is God's vehicle for world evangelism and personal spiritual
growth. The competition is structured accordingly; each team
represents a church.
May Christian schools participate?
Not as a school. Each team represents a church. If
possible, form a church team (but limit the participants to those within
the scope of the church's ministry).
What is the expected dress?
See the League Rules section for information on dress standards, etc.
